10th Anniversary of Mandatory Passports

Posted on 04/12/2017

Passport Anniversary

Please be advised that we are approaching the 10th anniversary (January 1st, 2007) of when passports became mandatory for American citizens traveling by air between the US to Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South America. As a result, there could be a surge in applications this next year, requiring up to 16 weeks or more to receive a new passport. It is important that you verify their passport expiration date, as renewal is required at minimum 6 months prior to travel

New Passport Photo Services

Are you thinking about taking that once-in-a-lifetime safari trip that you have been dreaming about for years? Want to head out to a warm private island for a few days of rest and relaxation? Has your loved one finally popped the question and you want to have your nuptials at an all-inclusive resort with a few of your closet friends? Whatever your traveling goals are next, you need a passport if you plan on leaving the country.

You Deserve It! Vacations (YDIV) now offers U.S. and international passport/VISA services for both paper and biometric passports. A biometric passport is also known as an e-passport. Think digital – it’s a combination of a paper and an electronic passport and includes biometric info that can be used to identify that it’s you and your passport. It also comes with a chip.

We provide a professional and reliable service that provides a photo that meets international ICAO compliance.

The service is an affordable $11.99 per set with 2 photos and only $5 for additional sets. International sets are $19.99 for 2 photos and $5.00 for additional sets.

According to the U.S. Department of State, a good passport photo is printed on matte or glossy photo quality paper, is 2 x 2 inches in size, has been taken in the last 6 months to reflect your current appearance with a plain white or off-white background, and you must have a smile on your face and no hat coverings unless it is for religious purposes.

Fees for passports are payable to the U.S. Department of State as follows: New, replacement or renewal of a passport book: $110 if age 16 and older; $80 if under the age of 16. New, replacement or renewal of a passport card: $30 if age 16 and older; $15 if under the age of 16.

Having a passport makes it convenient to travel anywhere. There is no need for a birth certificate because it serves as a source of identification. Most importantly, it’s good for a decade, so it will be awhile before you have to renew.
